Art at "The Pines"

This past friday was Hood River's monthly "First Friday Art Walk" and I was asked to show art at "The Pines" tasting room and gallery. The Pines wine is delicious and the tasting room is very comfortable. Live music is often happening and of course there is the art! Gretchen Goss has been very capably running the gallery portion of the space, and she is now joined by Jon Roz, formerly of "The John Roz" gallery in White Salmon.
My work consists mostly of abstracts painted in acrylic. Abstracts for me are about letting go and just painting without overthinking . It's harder than painting a landscape or a bunch of grapes so there's a freshness and vitality to the work. The paintings come in various sizes and can be purchased in groups.
The centerpiece of my show is my urban butterfly piece called "Metromorphosis". It was originally done for the "Urban Art Show" at the Columbia Center for the Arts", and is symbolic of the metamorphosis of urban areas through art. It is completely made out of reclaimed wood, paint and metal and is about six feet in size.
